A submission for the "Erik as a Super Hero" contest:

WOW. This was like-- the most TIME CONSUMING PROJECT of all time... but I finally got it done in time for the contest, and before I leave for europe (I leave in 15 hours...) So you won't be seeing any of me until my return (July 13) and even then, I probably won't submit anything for a good while... My eyes hurt from looking at this bloody computer screen for so long but I guess the end product is worth it. My favorite panel would have to be the second to last panel... Erik looks so sad!!

Anyway-- the idea for this comic came a long, long time ago, actually, before word of this contest was even out! I had this idea, I recall, the first year I got into "phantom"... it was a random idea that it would be very comical turning Erik into a superhero. He's already got the mask, cape, hypnotic voice and punjab lasso... not to mention a disturbing past! What else does this guy need?! Oh, right... he... doesn't really fight crime. Only "crimes against music". So that's why I had a whole lot of ideas, seemily prepared just for this contest. I couldn't pass up the chance to submit this, even if I don't win. It's not about that... I'm just excited to share this with the world!

Extra comments:

1. The "doorbell" mechanism (in this case, more like an alarm for when there's "trouble"!) is based on the doorbell in the silent film version of POTO. Cool, huh?

2. The "Dun dun dun dun dun... Phantom!" tune is supposed to be the original Batman theme song combined with the ALW theme song... just try it in your head or hum it aloud, and you'll get it!

3. This is set in an alternate universe, where the Phantom story is set in modern-day Paris, France. All the characters are the same, but why is Daroga teaming up with Erik? They must've set up some sort of an alliance... but why? *chuckle* You'll just have to imagine why yourself!

Super powers and other info: Erik's superpowers are as follows: Hypnotic voice, punjab lasso skills and night-vision eyesight. EDIT: Magical-chandelier-falling-out-of-the-sky powers. Christine possesses hypnotic voice powers as well. Daroga has a secret superpower... will he ever reveal it? And Mme. Toad (a.k.a. La Carlotta) has glass-shattering singing powers, and sometimes, when she concentrates very hard, she can even destroy rocks and steel! Ever since Super Phantom damaged her voice, she has made it her goal to destroy Super Phantom (and Christine) and often uses Christine as a trap for Erik. Rich-bot and Fir-bot (based on Richard and Firmin) are robot minions of Mme. Toad, and they obey her every command! Raoul's superpowers not only include super-strength and flight, but also glitter and good looks!
