Les Mis, Zombies, Europe, Swine, Monk, Opera...

Mon May 4, 2009, 4:02 PM
  • Mood: Relief
  • Listening to: Hospital - And then there were none....
  • Reading: Les Miserables
  • Watching: nothing
  • Playing: nothing
  • Eating: nothing
  • Drinking: sunkist cherry lemonade soda. :D
I'd like to rant now about lots of random things!! :blahblah:

1. Firstly, I'm happy to say that I'm very very very very obsessed with Les Miserables! It's officially my second favorite musical of all time (second to Phantom, of course!), and sometimes it comes so close to Phantom, that I wonder if my phantom obsession may be weaker than it once was. You know you like Les Mis a little bit too much when you see sweeping the floor as a chance to sing "Castle on a Cloud" :sing:... Or a pile of wood or chairs suddenly looks like a barricade. Red towels or sheets become red flags that you wave proudly while belting "One Day More!"

Also-- just thought I'd let you all know--

:spotlight-left: This fall I'm going to be organizing a production of the School Edition of Les Mis for local homeschool students!:spotlight-right: It's going to be pretty amazing. I'm currently in the process of requesting my rights from the MTI website and all that jazz... It's all very exciting.

2. :zombie: Zombies? Why such an overwhelming obsession over zombies, eveyone? Even though I didn't like this whole "Twilight" obsessing any more than this, at least vampires stay cool and smart. Zombies? I just can't grasp the reasons for this attraction to them...

And NO... Erik does NOT in any way, shape or form, remind me of or lie in the same category of zombies. First of all, he's intelligent. He's probably also clean and decently dressed. He's talented and polite. His heart is something to be admired and cherished. Zombies are just plain icky. :puke:

3. I got a trampoline!! :bounce: But I'm very out of shape... my heart rate goes up in like, less than a minute, and I have to stop. But it's still awesome.

4. :flaguk: I'm going to France, England and Spain this summer... but you all probably already knew that. So... within these countries, where should I go? Are there any specific places I should go? Sights to see? Any suggestions?

5. :work: I'm working on the first few pages of "Les Deux Fantomes"... but I can't continue until I've talked with a friend of mine about the design of Erik's lair (from the book)... it's all very complicated... and I have a lot on my plate right now, but just know that I've got lots of surprises for you guys.

6. :noes: Swine. So I hope I don't get infected, but at the same time... I'm not all that worried. Chances are, I won't even get it... and even if I do, chances are, most Americans that get good medical attention will recover. My Dad's a doctor and he says there's nothing to worry about. This flu isn't any worse than most normal flues out there, and I don't know why everyone's making such a big hype about it.

7. :tunes: I just discovered "Romeo et Juliet" (the Opera) and it's just gorgeous. I was curious because the Wedding Night scene is quoted in the Phantom of the Opera novel, so I checked it out of the library. ugh. It's awesome. Ah! I also saw "La Boheme" recently, and that was beautiful as well. I really wish I could see some Gounod Operas in the future, though...

8. :poke: I looove the show "Monk". It seems that I always discover really good shows after they've been aired for years... but this is seriously one of my newer obsessions. Monk is so cute... I just want to hug the poor old man. I haven't seen the last season so don't tell me how that ends...

9. And lastly, how many of you are curious as to how I look like? How do you imagine I look like? Not that it really matters... perhaps I'm a bit self-absorbed! Gosh, I hope not... but I always wonder what a lot of you guys look like and how you behave. It's hard to tell through drawings and typed-up phrases...

I love Les Mis! For a while, I debated where to place it in my list of favorite musicals, and after much angst, I've placed it third. It's a very close third, but I enjoy Wicked A LOT, and there are miniscule things about Les Mis that drop it down for me. I would have to see it first to know for sure, though. But POTO will always be number one because it's the only one of the three with a love story that stands on its own! Hope you get your production together! It could be so epic!

I don't get zombies, either, but I really want to read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. It looks hilarious. And I enjoy a lot of stories about dead people that aren't really dead. Like "Pushing Daisies." I don't consider them zombies, even though they fit the definition pretty well...
:icondarthxerik:
Yes!! I've noticed of course, and somehow I knew you'd be one of the first to comment regarding Les Mis. :XD:

You have no idea how long I've prayed this production might work out. Only God knows, I suppose! I have all the support from my parents and I think enough interest... now to somehow build a barricade!!

It's just weird. But yah, that looked pretty funny, actually. It's like writing "Phantom of the Opera and Care Bears"... :wtf:

Aw, I hope you enjoy your Europe tour! That sounds like so much fun!

I wouldn't worry about swine flu either, the media is just hyping it up. >_>

I love Monk too! Good show. :) Unfortunately there is only one more season left! :O But there are plenty of episodes, so enjoy watching them.

Yeah, I always think its interesting to see pictures of online friends. It helps to put a face to the name, haha. But most of the time people look nothing like whatever I think they will be. :XD:

Yes! Les Miz is awesome! You're lucky you get to do a production of it. My school did it, but before I went there. :( At least we get to do some of the songs in the anniversary show. :D

You're going to Europe? All those countries? I'm jealous! I can't even get my parents to take me to New York City, and I live 1 1/2 hours away by train. :(

I know! the reason I began undertaking it is that a high school just across the street from me was doing it this last year and I was so unhappy that I couldn't be in it, and some of my friends COULD. So my parents (being the go-getters that they are) encouraged me to organize my own with fellow homeschoolers who rarely get such an opportunity. It's amazing... I'm so blessed. I hope it works out!

Yup! It's insane.

Really? I've never been to NY... If I had the chance, I'd take it.

thanks! I most definitely will.

Yah...

Isn't he just the cutest? Really? I didn't know that... thanks.

-agree- I'm thinking of posting a picture of me but with a chibi head on top of my face. That way people can see how I dress and get a general idea about me... idk... I'm very big on internet safety, but maybe that's just stupid! :XD:

*dances* Welcome to the fandom of the Mis! 'Tis an awesome obsession to have. And good luck with the school production!

I see the zombie thing in the same light...what people find so appealing in rotting corpses that stagger around murmuring "Duhhh, braaains" is unknown to me. :XD:

Actually, I've liked Les Mis for appr. a year, and in the past 5 months it's become an obsession... I just haven't announced it up till now and I figured I should... thanks! God willing it'll all work out... :)

Amen.

I know. X3 I love that show. And Psych too, that's another good one. :)

I totally understand what you mean. I dont really feel comfortable posting pics of me either, although I have posted one picture, and two photoshopped ones. I prefer photoshopping them, so at least you get a glimpse, but not like you could find me and stalk me or something. :XD:

When did you notice a zombie obession? I haven't really noticed it. o.O; But yes, I hate zombies. They give me nightmares. Why anyone would like them, I will never know.

I'm not really worried about swine flu...but then again, it's not in my area...I don't think, but it's still freaky! DX
